My favourite picture.

A picture is hanged on the wall opposite the door of my bedroom. I got it from my mother thirteen years ago and it came with me here. My mother began to paint pictures several years ago. She paints primarily landscapes and copy pictures of famous painters. This picture presents her lares. My grandmother lived in this house until her death. In this house I spent most of pleasant moments of my childhood. I was visiting my grandmother every summer holiday. I had much of freedom and I was always able to run outside, on the grassland and the garden. My grandmother had a cow, several hens and a rooster. I loved to spend my time in there. I like this picture very much, it is the first picture which my mother gave me and it brings back the nice moments.

My orchid.

Before the Easter my acquaintance wanted to throw out an orchid, so I took it from him. The plant was in a very bad condition. The plant literally swam in water, its leafs were soft and flat. I knew only a little bit about orchids, but at least I knew that they shouldn't be watered to much. I found the needed information on the Internet. My first step was to completely dry ground in the flowerpot, I didn't water it for a month and its leafs become hard. All my care was limited to drying and opportunely watering the plant. I don't remember exactly when, but probably in July young plant began to rise on the flower sprout. Then a month after another one rose on the second sprout. I read that plants that propagate in this way don't blossom in the first year. However my plant is an exception, the older of the new plants has a beautiful flower.

Visitor.

One day I opened door for patio, to let in my cats home and in front of the door I found a surprise, a small kitten. This small kitten is the main character from the blog “small kitten”. I took him on my hands and I stroked his soft fur. I took my cats home and I left the small kitten out side. He called by the front door to let him in.
Sometimes he comes to our patio and he wants to make friends with my cats. Rufus and Minio are not aggressive towards him, they snort and hiss at him, but they don't attack him. Rufus is afraid of strange cats, he feign pancake and growl. Minio solely snorts but he shows interest in the small kitten. Our small visitor loves all world and all people. I wonder if he will manage to make friends with my cats.

One day he came and walked nearby the front door, but didn't want to came in.
Two days later Minio sat on the chest of drawers and watched world through the window, he began to quietly cheep and he looked at me and through the window, he clearly wanted to show me something. I looked through the window, I saw that small kitten sitting on the table in the patio and he was looking at our window. Minio asked me to let him out. We went down and I let Minio out. He ran outside (even though it was raining) and stayed in front of the table and he cheeped to our visitor, the small kitten meowed in answer. A moment later I opened the door to patio and I noticed that this time Minio was sitting on the table and the visitor was sitting in front. My cat jumped down and ran back home, the small kitten meowed and stayed out side on the rain.

Hedgehog.

When my sister was a teenager, she lived with our grandmother. My grandmother lived outside of
the town in an almost hundred years old wooden house. One autumn a hedgehog came in to the house. My sisters took him to her room. The hedgehog lived with her all winter. My sister fed him and gave milk to drink, every morning bowls were empty. Hedgehog slept all days and by nights he went out of his hiding place, that was somewhere under her bed. When walking he pattered loudly with his little paws and puffed like a locomotive. He caught all mice which lived or wanted to live in the room of my sister. At spring my sister let out him out side.

On illustrations of Polish tales for children, hedgehogs are shown with apples on their spines. People who look at these illustrations think that hedgehogs eat apples and other plants. However Hedgehogs eat insects, earthworms and small rodents, they eat fallobst too.

“Damaged” cat

Rufus is “damaged”, he has asthma, he is ill for three and half years. Sometime he feels very bad, coughs and breathes heavily and one time he was stifling really badly. Now he has two kind pills. The first one he takes a quarter a day and the second he takes every other day. At the beginning he didn't want to swallow those pills, he was trying to escape, hide under the bed or tear out and spit out the pills. After some months he learnt to swallow his pills without a fight. In spite of the treatment and safe custody he still has good and bad days. I know that asthma is incurable and it is only possible to alleviate the symptoms. I know that my cat will get worse as he will grow older.
I am aware that this illness will probably shorten his life. I try to not to think about what is not unavoidable and I look forward to every day that is ahead of us.

Squirrels.

Here are many squirrels, these squirrels are grey. In Poland squirrels are red and are there is less of them, because the red squirrels are less fertile. Recently I found out that the grey squirrels weren't here by default. They were introduced here before the end of XIX century and the grey squirrels ousted their red cousins, which at present inhabit coniferous forests in mountains.
I watch squirrels with pleasure and I have lately discovered that they screech, that this small animal can screech very loudly. When I heard this screech before I thought that this were birds but I was mistaken. One day I heard known screech and came to the window, a squirrel was sitting on the tree in front of my window and she revealed the author of that sounds.

Small deadly fish.

When I was a small girl my father had an aquarium with fishes. He had many kind of fishes and water plants.
Fishes were living in harmony and we liked to watch them. My father fed fishes and cared about than, so that water was always clean. He liked a lot his aquarium and fishes. One day my father bought a new fish, she was small, yellow and she had three black perpendicular stripes. The new fish was very nice and very active, we had impression that she was everywhere at the same time. After few days strange things began to happen in the aquarium. Fishes had torn fins and tails. Afterwards my father began to draw out dead fishes a little too often. My father cleaned the aquarium and changed water. When fishes were in a jar the small fish became furious and began to attack all other fishes. My father quickly drew out the small killer. The small fish remained in the jar alone, but she lasted only few days.
I don't know the English name of that fish. Perhaps somebody will help me, I will be grateful.
